The $115 million Wonthaggi Hospital expansion project was completed in November 2022.
The expansion delivered three new operating theatres plus a procedure room. A new emergency department with 18 extra treatment spaces was added, along with a 32-bed inpatient ward. These new facilities will enable staff to treat 26,000 more emergency patients every year.
Bass Coast Shire is one of Victoria’s fastest-growing regions, with its population expected to more than double by 2031. A bigger and better Wonthaggi Hospital will ensure more Bass Coast locals can access world-class healthcare closer to home and loved ones.
