The Victorian Government is investing $20 million to deliver a dedicated children’s emergency department at the University Hospital Geelong.
The new paediatric emergency department will include 28 treatment spaces, including fast-track and short-stay beds. A separate triage system and waiting area is also being delivered along with new treatment rooms and support areas.
The facility has been designed to provide a private, calm and reassuring environment for children and their families.
The project forms part of a larger $102.4 million program to deliver dedicated children’s emergency departments at five of Victoria’s busiest hospitals. These also include the Northern, Frankston, Casey and Maroondah hospitals.
