The Victorian Government has invested $57.57 million to build the new St George’s Hospital aged care facility in Kew. This was the first step in a commitment to replace outdated public aged care homes with larger, modern and purpose-built facilities.
The 90-bed facility is on the St George’s Hospital site. It includes two separate three-storey houses with private rooms and garden outlooks in a home-like environment. Thirty residents will live on each floor in smaller household pods with private rooms and access to medical, rehabilitation and allied health care services.
This new facility will provide staff and residents with new high quality facilities as well as the very best specialist care to meet the changing needs of our community.
The St George’s Hospital aged care facility is part of the largest ever revamp of Victoria’s public sector residential aged care facilities. The facility has been designed to deliver best-practice care, and integrated health and wellbeing services in a home-like environment.
