The Victorian Government is investing $57.11 million to build a new 50-bed aged care facility in Rutherglen.
Each resident in the new facility will have a single bedroom and private ensuite, promoting dignity, privacy and independence.
Operated by Indigo Health North, the new facility will house the relocated 40-bed Glenview Community Care Nursing Home. It will include an additional 10 beds in an environment that is dementia-friendly and supports a range of resident care needs.
Early works are expected to begin by late 2022. During construction, the project is expected to create and sustain approximately 170 construction industry jobs. The new facility is due for completion in 2025.
The new Rutherglen facility is part of the first stage of the Regional and Rural Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy. The strategy aims to progressively replace dated public sector facilities with purpose-built facilities that better meet community expectations and enable contemporary models of aged care.
