The Victorian Government is investing $56.4 million to expand the Royal Children’s Hospital.
This expansion will allow the Royal Children’s Hospital to continue to meet increasing demand through the expansion of acute paediatric beds and emergency department services.
The first stage of the expansion is a new 30-bed inpatient ward on level five. This is complete and already treating patients with a range of different illnesses, including cancer.
The second stage of the project will deliver a bigger emergency department, boosting capacity by an additional 20 treatment spaces.
The Royal Children’s Hospital is one the state’s leading paediatric hospitals. It provides specialist care for children from Victoria, Tasmania, southern New South Wales and around Australia. It is also a leading hospital in paediatric training and research.
