The Victorian Government invested $223.5 million to expand the Latrobe Regional Hospital.
This third stage has expanded the maternity unit and delivered three operating suites, 44 inpatient beds and 14 medical and surgical beds. This means more people can get the care they need, closer to home.
There are also six new intensive care unit beds, a new emergency resuscitation bay and a medical imaging and pathology unit.
The expansion also includes a $6.5 million six-bed emergency department mental health, alcohol and other drugs hub.
The new emergency department hub means people presenting at Latrobe Regional Hospital’s emergency department with mental health, alcohol or drug issues can be fast-tracked to specialist, dedicated care. This will provide them with the right support, sooner.
The expansion helps to meet the region’s increasing and complex health needs. It is part of our master plan for delivering improved health services throughout the Gippsland region.
Stages 1 and 2 delivered a bigger emergency department and new cardiac facilities.
