The Kananook Train Stabling Yard was completed in mid-2025.

The first stage of the project was delivered in May 2020 as part of the Carrum level crossing removal works and allowed 8 trains to be stabled at the site.

In 2022, a new high tech signal control centre and better driver facilities were added. The control centre minimises disruptions for commuters by centralising and efficiently controlling trains.

Works on the final stage of the Kananook Train Stabling Yard started in 2023 and more than doubled the number of the trains able to be stored at the facility to 21 trains. Works also included building maintenance and train wash facilities.
