Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade
As part of this project, we’ve:
- added a new lane in each direction between Southeast Boulevard and Manks Road and separated traffic to improve safety for the more than 21,000 vehicles that use the road each day
- upgraded the intersection at Livestock Way, adding an extra lane to make it easier to exit the industrial area
- upgraded the Greenhills Road intersection with traffic lights, extra through and turning lanes, and crossing points for pedestrians and cyclists to provide safer and easier access into the industrial precinct
- built two new bridges over Deep Creek near the water recycling plant
- added a roundabout south of Deep Creek to make it safer for large vehicles to access local businesses
- converted a section of the existing Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road to a new service road, making it safer for residents and locals to access their homes and businesses.
- upgraded the intersection at Hall Road to a roundabout, providing access to the new service road
- improved safety at Ballarto Road by removing the dangerous intersection, replacing it with a roundabout
- built a new 10km shared walking and cycling path, with safety barriers to separate it from vehicles.
These changes will reduce the risk of crashes and make it safer for all road users.
Major works started on the project in mid-2022 and were completed in August 2024 – 18 months ahead of schedule
