The level crossing at Evans Road, Lyndhurst was removed in October 2020 with a road bridge.
Evans Road was closed at the level crossing since 2005 for community safety.
Removing the level crossing has restored local connections and access to important services, such as shops and schools.
Evans Road was the first of four remaining crossings on the Cranbourne Line to go as part of the Cranbourne Line Upgrade. The vital upgrades will make the Cranbourne Line free of level crossings, fully duplicated between Cranbourne and Dandenong, and deliver a brand-new Merinda Park Station.
These upgrades, along with the Metro Tunnel Project, will pave the way for more trains more often, a more reliable train network and 45% more peak capacity on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.
