Eel Race Road Carrum

The Eel Race Road, Carrum level crossing closed in February 2020.

Trains now travel along an elevated rail bridge, stopping at the new Carrum Station.

A new direct connection from McLeod Road to Nepean Highway has opened underneath, creating safer connections for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

Improvements to the local road network with the removal of three level crossings in the area, the new McLeod Road connection, and Karrum Karrum Bridge over Patterson River enabled the closure of this dangerous level crossing.

A new walking and cycling underpass at Eel Race Road opened in late 2020, forming part of more than 11km of new shared paths from Edithvale to Frankston.

Works on 4 new community open spaces as part of Carrum’s $50 million revitalisation are also complete.

The closure of this level crossing coincided with the removal and closure of level crossings at Station Street, Carrum and Mascot Avenue, Bonbeach.
