Eastern Freeway - Burke Road to Tram Road
Project design
For the upgrades to the Eastern Freeway between Burke Road and Tram Road, we’re building:
- 6 new express lanes and on-road technology to ease congestion
- the first 7 kilometres of the Eastern Busway, improving transport in Melbourne’s east
- A new major interchange at Bulleen, providing a seamless connection with the new North East Link tunnels and linking Melbourne’s east with the M80 Ring Road
- 11+ kilometres of new and upgraded noise walls, designed to meet Victoria's toughest noise standards - 63 dbA during the day, and 58 dbA at night
- smarter, on-road technology to get you home safer and sooner
- revitalised parklands, wetlands and waterways
- 11 kilometres of new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, including new, wider pedestrian bridges at Estelle Street in Bulleen and Heyington Avenue in Mont Albert North.
- 2 park and rides at Bulleen and Doncaster – doubling the number of commuter parking spaces in the area
- More than 1.8 million new plants, including over 10,000 trees.
