Cardinia Road Pakenham

The level crossing at Cardinia Road, Pakenham was removed in December 2020, with traffic now safely travelling over the new road bridge.

More than 23,000 vehicles travelled through the Cardinia Road level crossing each day, where the boom gates held up traffic for a third of the morning peak.

With the new road bridge now open, congestion is reduced, and safety improved for the growing community and surrounding suburbs.

Removing the Cardinia Road level crossing is part of the Victorian Government $15 billion investment in projects to improve the Pakenham Line.
